Lima

Peru

Lima, Peru is the culinary capital of South America and accounts for over one-third of the country’s population. Deep historical ties to Catholic and indigenous religions paired with a warm culture make for a unique spiritual climate that is simultaneously welcoming and wary of outsiders.

Many Peruvians view religion as another part of life rather than a personal relationship with God. Along with the rise of the postmodern movement, the college campus has diverse views on Christianity. In addition to Gospel need, Lima is home to over fifteen public and private universities, making this city a prime location to investigate the potential for campus ministry.

In Early 2023, CO launched a pioneering team in the city to begin a partnership with a local church and look for sustainable ways to partner with Universities. From learning how to navigate transportation systems to trying to have spiritual conversations in an unknown culture, they are still in a very exploratory stage of ministry.

Pray for the team as they learn the language, adapt to life in a new place, and seek to identify cultural and religious barriers to the gospel. Pray that the Lord would open doors to the gospel and bring college students to new life in Him.
